“He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even enemy from oppression.” T.Paine

A gentleman in your report declared he was a Christian and that the bible stated he had to follow the law of our country. I know of no properly interpreted religion that would side with the law of man over the law of God when it comes to precious human life and decency. God is love in all religious practices. As quoted in the bible,”….there are no commandments greater than these….Love thy neighbor as thyself,” Mark 12:30;  ” Don’t just pretend to love others really love them …when gods people are in need be ready to help them,” Romans 12:9-13.

These children and women  refugees deserve no less than what this wisdom would dictate. That is what this country was founded on. How does a 5 or ten year old or a threatened mother fill out  proper paperwork  and wait for government bureaucracy to grant them the right to flee to safe ground? What would any of us do to save our life or especially that of our children? The answer we must all agree on is we already did it. We fled to the US for the freedom we all enjoy. My family has been here since the mid 1600, fought in every conflict and was even the first to sign the, Declaration of Independence, Josiah Barlett. I feel I am speaking for them and what  they would wish to be done.

We as Americans are more than capable of insuring the very process that created this country. We cannot rest on the premise that the law that is on the books now is correct  and serving  and keeping up with our needs. With every child turned away we are creating a warrior against what we stand for with no compassion toward us because none was given to them. Surely we can think of options to help these children rather than the possible death sentence of deportation. They are our gift for being a great country. We need them. They are what will help lift this country and the next generation to an even better and stronger America. It has always been this countries pathway to success.

Thank you Anderson for reminding us of the compassion being shown with the Syrian refugees and fleeing Africans by other countries. We live in the greatest country on earth. Surely we will  not forget to, “lift our light beside the Golden door.”
